Located on the Northern Gold Coast, the township of Pimpama is the last remaining rural town which can be found along the Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The first thing that comes to mind when you mention Pimpama to Queenslanders is that of the succulent strawberries that are produced at the iconic Pimpama Strawberry Farm which has been on the Gold Coast highway for eons. The Pimpama Strawberry Farm is a working farm which is located at 1 Pimpama Jacobs Well Road in the township. The farm has operated for well over 20 years and is well-known to both locals and tourists alike. It is home to an array of animals with a fabulous petting zoo for the kids. The kiosk also offers delightful treats including the famous "Strawberry Cone" which is a giant cone filled with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and fresh cream, topped with strawberry ice cream, a dollop of cream and then another strawberry! PIMPAMA AND ORMEAU WAR MEMORIAL

Halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, located in church grounds at Pimpama, stands the iconic stone memorial statue of a soldier with his head bowed, his hands crossed resting on his rifle with a tree trunk supporting him. This statue is actually a replica of the original which was was unveiled back in 1919 following public subscription.

 

The original statue stood in the Pimpama Uniting Church cemetery as a tribute to the 7 local men who had died in World War 2.

SLIDEWAYS GO KARTING WORLD

Conveniently located at 232 Old Pacific Motorway in Pimpama, just off the M1 is Slideways - Go Karting World, only 2 minutes down the road from Dreamworld. The 700 metre long circuit is built for the real racer and is arguably one of the best outdoor go kart tracks in Australia where you can reach up to 70km/h - featuring massive undulations, fast straights, banked corners and sweepers.

HISTORY OF PIMPAMA EXPLAINED

The origin of the name Pimpama is not certain, however it is apparently of Aboriginal origin, with a meaning in reference to freshwater crayfish and at least two species of native birds.

 

In 1889 the South Coast railway had a stopping place located in Pimpama and the area has remained mostly farmland since the early days is a rural wedge between Coomera and Ormeau.

 

Many people can remember seeing the little Uniting Church and soldier at Pimpama as they travelled on the Pacific Highway on their way to Brisbane. Recently the soldier has been replaced after 70 years of exposure to the elements.

 

Pimpama, at the time of opening, was regarded as one of the more progressive Southern areas of Bribane, which even today still stands true with all the existing development and its rapidly growing population.

Pimpama is home to the Gainsborough Greens Golf Club. This outstanding 18 hole course is surrounded by 230 hectares of untouched natural beauty, with Eastern Grey Kangaroos frequenting the course. It has been recognised since 1990 as being amongst the elite courses in South East Queensland and is open for golfers of all ages and experience.
